Roslyn Middle School World Language Teacher Tami Cutler and her 7th grade class participated in the celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month by creating Ojo De Dios (Eye of God) crafts—made by weaving a colorful design out of yarn.

Students learned about the Mexican Huichol Tribe and their tradition of making them when a baby is born. The central “eye” is traditionally woven by the father, with another color added every year until the child turns 5. It is believed that the Ojo De Dios provides protection.
