Roslyn High School senior Andrew Defrin is one of 20 students to be named a 2021-2022 Long Island Scholar Artist. Each year the Long Island Scholar Artist program recognizes students who excel academically and in the areas of either music, visual arts, dance, theater, or media arts. Andrew was selected in the area of Theatre. “Andrew is one of the hardest working students I’ve ever worked with,” said music teacher Cyndi Feinman. “His dedication and passion in the theater arts is highly admirable.” Andrew attends both Roslyn High School and the Long Island School for the Arts (LIHSA). He is currently in rehearsals for Roslyn High School’s upcoming Royal Crown Players production of Big Fish. Following that, he will prepare for a production of his original play, The Guest, which will be performed June 4, 2022 at Roslyn High School. In May, he will receive the George Farber Award. This fall, he will attend Fordham University at Lincoln Center to study theater directing.
