The Town of North Hempstead recently joined the Bryant Library in Roslyn for the installation of a new pollinator garden to provide pollinator habitat and food sources for bees, butterflies, other pollinating insects and wildlife.

The new garden was installed in front of the library building.

The inspiration to create a pollinator garden at the library stemmed from the myriad of gardens established by North Hempstead in Gerry Park, adjacent to the library as well as the library’s Rachel Hicks Seed Exchange that promotes sustainable gardening.

Town environmental specialist Meagan Fastuca was able to guide library staff throughout the process by providing suggestions and advice on plant selection and design for the garden.

The town hopes that by partnering with local organizations and agencies it will inspire the creation of more pollinator gardens.
