Temple Beth Sholom Sisterhood will honor Beth Eichenholtz, a past Sisterhood co-president and longtime synagogue member, as its Torah Fund honoree at its Fall Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 6:30 p.m. The Torah Fund supports prospective clergy and Jewish-education students at conservative-movement seminaries.
Eichenholtz has a master’s degree in Jewish education from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, and has worked as a Hebrew school teacher, youth group advisor, and adult educator. She has served as a branch president and as a region education vice president of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism.
Professionally, she has worked full time in library and information management and for Long Island Lighting. Â Eichenholtz and her husband, Marc, have both served on the temple Board of Trustees. Their daughter, Eve, is a conservative rabbi in Fayetteville, NC.
The evening will feature a cocktail hour, shopping at holiday boutiques, a dinner by Colbeh, and a musical performance by jazz vocalist Ghazal Mizrahi, accompanied by classical pianist Oswaldo Machado.
A graduate of Adelphi University’s vocal performance program, Mizrahi is a contemporary jazz singer who’s making her own distinct mark on the world of popular music. She was a premier soloist at Adelphi’s Best of Broadway and Jazz Band shows, and has performed at the Amityville Music Hall. She has provided vocals on professional recordings with A Stillwater Satellite, has magnificent stage presence, and is an electrifying performer.
The dinner is $60 for Sisterhood members and $85 for guests.
