The Roslyn Landmark Society is hosting the 2024 Historic House VIP Reception at the historic Webb Institute, an elite private college located on the Long Island Sound in Glen Cove on the site of the former Pratt estate known as “The Braes.”
The event will be held Saturday, July 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
at The Braes, Herbert Pratt Estate at 298 Crescent Beach Road Glen Cove
Stevenson Taylor Hall, the college’s main building, is the former estate house built by Herbert L. Pratt, son of Standard Oil industrialist Charles Pratt, in 1912.
The stately edifice, then known as “The Braes,” was designed by architect James Brite to resemble a European neo-Jacobean palace.
It was the largest of six Pratt family mansions built along the North Shore’s Gold Coast in Glen Cove during the first decades of the 20th century.
Experience the Gilded Age on Long Island’s North Shore during this exclusive cocktail reception on the terrace overlooking the water. The Harbor Hill Players will provide live music, light refreshments will be served, and a brief introduction to the site’s extraordinary history by Professor (and Webb Institute alum) Spenser Boyd.
Tickets are $50 for current 2024 Roslyn Landmark Society members and $75 for non-members (which will include a 2024 membership).
This event is open to the public, but space is limited—tickets will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Special thanks to event corporate sponsor, Rallye Lexus.
