Roslyn’s hills were truly alive with the sound of music when the Greater Roslyn Chamber of Commerce presented the first live music event in Gerry Park in three years on July 27th.
That’s when Roslyn Rocks presented Classic Clapton, an Eric Clapton tribute band.
With near-perfect weather, nearly 200 area music lovers came from as far away as Bellmore, Floral Park and Syosset to see Classic Clapton perform an enthralling two-hour set of the best of Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominos, and Eric Clapton.
Opening with “White Room”, the band had the crowd moving from the first chords, and it continued right through the big finale, “Layla.” The crowd kept yelling for encores and they weren’t disappointed.
The concert was presented by the chamber and The Town Of North Hempstead.
Vice President of Events “Lobster” Lou Federico said, “ I couldn’t have asked for a better band, better weather or a better crowd.”
Lou worked very hard to bring the concert together, his tenth year coordinating the show.
None of this would have been been possible without the event sponsors that included Delicacies, Sara Companion, The Atria At Roslyn Harbor, Holiday Farms, Quick Commercial Capital, Pierce Camps, Abeetza Pizza, The Roslyn Times, East Hills Cleaners, The Paint Place and lead sponsor Penn Toyota.
