On Sunday, Dec. 11, Nina Et Cetera performed at the Bryant Library’s Helen Gannon Room for her “Hotter Than a Pepper Sprout” concert. Her concert included music by Elvis, Ray Charles, Robert Johnson, Mahalia Jackson, Bessie Smith, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and others.
The instrumentation included guitar, vocals, bass, percussion, harmonica and kazoo. Prior to each song, she sprinkled many interesting anecdotes which highlighted the diversity and rich history of American Music ranging from jazz, blues, gospel, folk, and rock and roll.
Songs included Brenda Lee’s Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree and Johnny Cash’s Jackson.
