October is National Bullying Prevention Month and Oct. 21 marked Unity Day, a day for students to show they stand together against bullying and united for kindness. Students at Mineola Middle School participated in a chalk-it-out event to celebrate.
During lunch periods, middle schoolers used chalk to write positive messages and draw pictures on the school’s sidewalks and bus loop. The messages were meant as a public display to promote kindness, unity, and inclusivity.
Many students wore the color orange at the chalk-it-out event, in support of Unity Day. Mineola Middle School’s remote learners were also encouraged to participate at home and send in pictures of their drawings.
