The New Hyde Park-Garden City Park Union Free School District hosted a ribbon cutting to celebrate the grand opening of New Hyde Park Road School’s new inclusive playground on Oct. 17.

The playground, which is in the school’s colors of maroon and gold, was built to allow children of all ages and abilities to play together. It is wheelchair accessible; surrounded by soft grass turf; and promotes physical, cognitive, sensory and social skills.

“Inclusive playgrounds provide a platform for social equity and allow entire families of all ages to enjoy time together,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Morrison-Raptis said. “Road School is an incredible school that supports inclusivity and belonging. All New Hyde Park-Garden City Park families are welcome to play here.”

Once the ribbon was cut, the students in attendance excitedly explored their new playground.
