At the Senior Community Awards event at Paul D. Schreiber High School this past Tuesday evening Leah Goodman received the Council Member Dalimonte Community Service Award.
\Dalimonte’s community service award was created to recognize some of the outstanding deeds that are done in the community, particularly by young people.
“I realize that the students in our community have a lot on their plates. They are concentrating on their schoolwork, participating in sports and other extracurricular activities, and developing friendships that will last their lifetime. But some students do all that and more, going the extra mile to do good in their community,” said Dalimonte.
Goodman founded Paw2Heart where she promotes the mental health benefits of dog ownership for patients working through anxiety and depression and provides support during the adoption process.
Goodman also spends time volunteering with Long Island Cares, the Twin Pines Thrift Shop, and Our Lady of Fatima Church.
