Carmen Intintoli of Port Washington died on Saturday, Oct. 29 at age 74

Carmen was born In Naples, Italy on Aug. 20, 1948. He came to the United States in 1955 with his parents, Alfonso and Giovanna Intintoli, his three sisters, aunt, and cousin.

Carmen grew up in Port Washington, graduating from Schreiber High School in 1967 and soon after joined the U.S. Navy.

After returning from duty, Carmen attended Baruch College in New York, graduating with a BA degree. Carmen went on to a career in sales, working in various fields including several years in New York’s garment center.

While living in Port Washington, Carmen volunteered for the local Fire Department. There he spent many hours and built lifelong friendships. His hobbies included a passion for golf and his softball team, “Over The Hill Gang.”

He enjoyed all sports and watching his New York teams on TV. Carmen loved gardening, especially growing vegetables. He was so proud of his crops!

Carmen met the love of his life, Luz, while working in New York City and they were married for 35 years. The Intintoli’s moved to East Meadow and enjoyed traveling and cruises. Even when it became difficult for Carmen due to health issues, he still insisted on traveling.

Carmen is survived by his beloved wife Luz, loving sisters Jo Silverman (Steve – deceased), Anne Friedman (Norman), Lina Gottesman (Robert), Roseanne Dyson (Russell), and numerous nieces and nephews as well as his many friends. Carmen was also adored by Luz’s siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. Carmen will be missed forever. His final resting place is Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.
