On April 7, the Village of New Hyde Park held its annual community Clean Up Day.
Beautification Chairman and Trustee Richard Pallisco organized the event to coincide with Earth Day initiatives throughout the world.
The team of volunteers cleaned and mulched the area, and planted beds around the Long Island Railroad station.
A new flag was also hung at the police booth in the resident parking lot.
Volunteers this year included Mayor Lawrence Montreuil, Deputy Mayor Donna Squicciarino, Pallisco, members of Boy Scout Troop 298 and residents.
