
NYU Winthrop Hospital’s “Inspiring Women” educational series will offer a seminar focusing on women and heart disease, “The Mind-Body Connection: Healthy Body + Healthy Mind = A Happy & Healthy Heart,” on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. It will be held at the NYU Winthrop Hospital Research & Academic Center, 101 Mineola Blvd., at the corner of Second St. in Mineola.
Healthcare professionals from NYU Winthrop Hospital will talk about the latest prevention guidelines related to a woman’s risk and treatment options, as well as the relationship between the mind and heart health. Women will learn to identify positive and negative lifestyle factors that influence their mental well-being, and become familiar with how to effectively manage stress for optimal heart health.
Speakers include Carole Filangieri, psychologist in the Department of Behavioral Health; Barbara George, director of the Center for Cardiovascular Lifestyle Medicine; Dr. Justine Lachmann, director of the Congestive Heart Failure Program and Mary Rzeszut, clinical social worker in the Department of Behavioral Health. The seminar will also include a question and answer period.
