
The Town of North Hempstead will celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
North Hempstead will host three National Night Out events across the town, with celebrations in Westbury, Port Washington, and Manhasset.
National Night Out is celebrated every year on the first Tuesday of August and involves over 38 million neighbors in over 16,000 communities, including all 50 states, U.S. territories, and military bases worldwide.
This event promotes police-community partnerships and solidarity to make neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live.
spoke to the importance of the events, saying,
“When you bring a community together with their local police, up close and personal, and get to know one another, good things happen. You form bonds, and that’s where trust is built, “Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick J. Ryder said. “There’s no better way to improve our communities and keep them safe.”
The events will feature music, singing, dancing, healthcare service providers, crime prevention information, educational resources, cultural entertainment, refreshments, arts & crafts, raffles, games, health screenings, giveaways, and more.
National Night Out in Westbury will occur on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Martin “Bunky” Reid Park, Broadway Avenue & Urban Avenue, Westbury.
It will feature a parade and festivities. Assembly for the parade will take place at the Salvation Army Westbury Corps Community Center at 5 p.m., and the march will commence at 5:30 p.m.
National Night Out in Port Washington will occur on Tuesday, August 6, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lions Field, 25 Glen Lane, Port Washington.
National Night Out in Manhasset will occur on Tuesday, August 6, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Whitney Pond Park, Community Drive @ Community Drive E., Manhasset.
