North Hempstead officials attend Mashadi Senior Club’s Purim event

North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Council Member Veronica Lurvey recently attended the Mashadi Senior Club’s Purim costume party at the Mashadi Jewish Center in Great Neck on March 4.

The celebration included music, dancing, and a dairy lunch. Supervisor Bosworth and Council Member Lurvey presented the group’s leaders, Ania Nassimi and Cathy Banilivi, with certificates of recognition.

Purim is a Jewish holiday celebrated every year on the 14th day of the Hebrew month of Adar, and commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in the ancient Persian Empire. Purim 2020 begins on Monday night, March 9 and continues through Tuesday, March 10.
