New Hyde Park Memorial High School junior Guranaad Kaur has been accepted into Columbia University’s Science Honors Program.

The program, held on Saturday mornings at the university throughout the academic year, is for high school students who have a strong interest in science and mathematics. Courses primarily focus on physical, chemical, biological, behavioral and computing sciences, and the instructors are scientists and mathematicians who are engaged in research at the university.

Kaur was accepted into the program after undergoing an application process and a 2-hour entrance exam.
