Monday, September 9, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Whether your children or grandchildren are learning to crawl or learning to drive, you can help make a college education a reality. We’ll discuss questions to consider as you establish a college savings goal, strategies to help you reach your goal and the features and benefits of various education savings plans.

Health Insurance Application Assistance – 1st Floor Modular Room

Tuesday, September 10, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Health care insurance application assistance for Aged (65+), Blind and Disabled populations. Get help from Health and Welfare Council of Long Island (HWCLI) experts with the Medicaid application process through LDSS, Medicare Savings programs and Medicare resources. Call HWCLI for an appointment at 516-505-4426, or walk-in with your questions. This service will be available on the following dates: September 10, 24; October 8, 22; November 5, 19 and December 3, 17.

Tuesday, September 10 at 12 noon.  Needing larger print a little more these days?  Or have you worn glasses all of your life? Staff from the Lighthouse Guild will discuss Electronic Magnification technology and how it can enhance your daily life, from reading to recognizing products and reading labels while shopping.

9-11-2001 Anniversary Commemoration – Virtual

Wednesday, September 11, 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Join people from around the world to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of 9/11.  Watch a 30-minute film, available on demand, highlighting first-person accounts of the attacks and their aftermath and participate in a live virtual chat with 9/11 Museum staff throughout the day.

Craft Workshop: Paper Pumpkin Lanterns

Friday, September 13, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Feel cozy with these arty, elegant luminaries. They have a delicate leaf motif that looks beautiful by daylight or in the evening with a lit (flameless) tealight inside.  They can be easily used to light up and adorn any room, porch or even parties throughout Fall. Patrons aged 18+ only.

Wednesday, September 11 at 11am. Ages: 12 months- 5 years (with parent/caregiver). Play promotes healthy development and learning, so bring your youngster to our library for1 hour of toys and art fun! Another P.I.E. will be on September 28 at 11 a.m.
