VITA Tax Aide “Free” Saturday, March 26 at 12 noon. Free assistance is available for persons with incomes, $72,000 or less, who wish to have their taxes prepared by trained volunteers in the Volunteer Tax Assistance Program. Microgreens, Nutritional Powerhouse! – Virtual
Wednesday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m. Microgreens are tiny, edible greens grown from the seeds of vegetables and herbs. But, microgreens are special – they contain up to 40 times the nutritional value of their mature, adult counterparts. Essential Earth Farm will discuss growing your own microgreens indoors and outdoors, the nutritional value of microgreens, and the different varieties. Essential Earth Farm is a small, women-owned, urban farm located in Stamford, CT.

Italian-American Comedy: From the Immigrant Era to the Present – All Purpose Rm. 2nd Fl. and Virtual Sunday, April 3 at 1 p.m. This presentation focuses on southern Italian-American comedy, from its roots in the Commedia Dell’ Arte and southern Italian poverty, through its progression in transplanted American generations. The lecture follows the development of Italian-American humor as it responds to and mirrors the status of the Italian-American community, from the immigrant era to the present. Skits, jokes, songs, and parodies from comedians representing various eras and styles traces a legacy that ranges from immigrant coffee houses to the ethnic stage, to radio and records, and to television and film. Then and now, comedy helps Italian-Americans to laugh along with the comedians who remind them of their unique cultural characteristics and who offer a humorous look at both sides of the ethnic divide.
