PROGRAMS and EVENTS

Hillside Public Library, in conjunction with Long Island Coalition for the Homeless, is conducting a Drive for Needed Items for folks living on the streets.  The following is a partial list of some of the desired items: Peanut butter; crackers; protein bars; fruit cups; deodorant; mouthwash; water-proof gloves; warm socks; scarves; reusable bags; ziploc bags. Also, $5-$10 gift cards for food: Dunkin; 7/11; McDonalds, etc.

Movie! Oppenheimer –  Rating: R. All Purpose Room

Friday, January 12 at 1 p.m. “J. Robert Oppenheimer played an integral role in developing the first atomic bomb. Throughout the development of the bomb, Oppenheimer struggled with justifying a creation that came to cause so much damage. He questions whether he owes it to scientific discovery to create something capable of so much power.”

Friday, January 12 at 5 p.m. Ages: 10 – Adult.  Join local author Sarah Khan as she explores and recalls moments from her book “Memories of Exotic Kenya”.

New Year: Fresh Start Through Meditation – Virtual

Tuesday, January 16 at 12 p.m. Join Dave Buck for this powerful program and learn a simple meditation technique to bring joy, peace, positivity and relaxation in your daily routine. This program will offer the attendees the opportunity to experience a powerful meditation technique and ask questions about how to use it in your life. This will be explained and practiced during the session.

There will also be a Snowman Craft! 

Dancing Popcorn with Ms. Jean Jean! – All Purpose Room

Tuesday, January 16 at 4:30 p.m. Ages: 7- 10 years. Have you ever seen popcorn dance? Come explore chemical reactions and watch the popcorn dance to the beat!!
