Meditation for Dealing with the Stress of Modern Life – Virtual Program Friday, March 4 at 6:30 p.m. The ancient tradition of meditation has become even more valuable for people of our modern times. There are many benefits that come from meditation on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. During this engaging workshop you will learn a simple time-tested technique and even have the chance to try this out!
SEED LIBRARY at Hillside Library Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6 marks the opening weekend for the Seed Library. Visit the library on opening weekend to borrow some seeds and you could win one of our Seed Library raffle prizes. Managing Stress Workshop – Virtual Monday, March 7 at 1:30 p.m. Project Hope counselors present Managing Stress: How to Talk, Cope, and Relax in these pandemic times. Learn effective grounding techniques, breathing exercises, and mini-meditations.
How to Build a Resume! -All Purpose Room, 2nd Floor Monday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. Learn the basics of resume writing with Microsoft Word and Google Docs: what to include, what to leave out, and how to tailor your resume for each job application. We’ll also talk about writing cover letters and the importance of thank you letters. Registration is required to attend this event.
Refresh Your Resume Tuesday, March 8 and Thursday, March10, 10 a.m. – 12 noon. Meet with a librarian, by appointment, either virtually or in person, to get feedback on ways to update and refresh your resume.

Join Keith Crocker in a celebration of the career of comedic actress Lucille Ball. Stony Brook Cancer Center Health Education Series – Virtual Wednesday, March 9 at 12 noon. Prostate Cancer: Know the Facts about Prostate Cancer. Oh My Aching Joints! All You Need To Know About Arthritis – Virtual Thursday, March 10 at 1 p.m. Presented by Northwell Health’s Dr. Marie Labarca, Rheumatology specialist. The number of people living with arthritis is rising at an alarming pace. Current CDC estimates show that arthritis affects almost 53 million (or 23%) of adults. Dr. LaBarca will discuss the risk factors for getting arthritis and what to do if you have it already. She will cover several types of arthritis that predominantly affect this community. Stemtastic: Clorinda Takes Flight! – All Purpose Room, 2nd Floor Monday, March 7 at 5:30 p.m. Ages: Pre-K-1st grade. We’ll test out a variety of flying machines including rockets, planes, and copters. Then we’ll listen to a story about a very determined cow who, after several failed attempts, manages to soar to London in a hot air balloon! We’ll see how hot air balloons work as we create our own.
Time for Kids: Shamrock Silliness – All Purpose Room, 2nd Floor Tuesday, March 8 at 4:30 p.m. Ages: 3 years- 7 years (with parent/caregiver). Come join A Time for Kids, Inc. as we celebrate the luck of the Irish in this family fun preschool readiness program! Music, movement, a story and a silly Shamrock craft!
