The library is sponsoring a Basic First Aid Supplies Drive to support Ukraine. Needed items include Band Aids, Sterile Eye Dressings; Gauze Dressings; Safety Pins; Tweezers and Scissors; Skin Rash Creams; Pain Relievers and Digital Thermometers. There is a bin at the library for your donations, and we thank you for your generosity.

Buzzing with Bees! – All Purpose Room, 2nd Floor Friday, June 3 at 4:30 p.m. Join us for a fun and exciting program with Gerry the Bee Guy! Learn all about bees and beekeeping; the importance of honeybees, how they live, and communicate. See a real bee suit and learn the Wiggle Waggle Dance of the bees. This program is for all ages. The presentation is age appropriate for children, parents are also welcome!

Staying Safe on Our Streets – Virtual Tuesday, June 7 at 2 p.m. Long Island is one of the most dangerous regions in the state for pedestrian and vehicle injuries and fatalities. Medicare Updates and Options – Virtual Wednesday, June 8 at 1 p.m. The Nassau County Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP) is offering an informative session on Medicare Updates and Options for 2022, including Social Security and Medicare cost of living and premium increases. Candles with Chrissy – All Purpose Room 2nd Floor Wednesday, June 8 at 5 p.m. Create your own candle using a variety of colors and scents. The simple fun process of layering dry wax granules can create different patterns like a rainbow, quilted or tie-dye. No two candles come out the same! $5.00 fee for materials, cash only please. This program is for patrons 18 years of age and older.

Learn about science-based ways to protect yourself from unnecessary illness. Now is the time to stock your kitchen pharmacy, to combat the common cold, flu, COVID other viruses. Learn how to build a natural kitchen pharmacy to keep your family healthy all year long. Presented by Long Island author Marie Ruggles (M.S., R.D., C.N., C.D.E.; Nutritionist/Aromatherapist/Certified Diabetes Educator).

Intro to American Sign Language – In person and Virtual Friday, June 10 at 10 a.m. Introduction to ASL, Deaf Culture and ASL foundational rules: In this beginner 10-week series we will learn the foundational concepts of American Sign Language, finger spelling, numbers, vocabulary, common phrases, Deaf culture and build upon our conversational skills. All levels are welcomed but this series is designed for those with little or no experience. This program is made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Paint Night: Celebrate the Summer Solstice! – Virtual Friday, June 10 at 7 p.m. Sail into the Summer Solstice with Artist Alma, as she demonstrates sketching a serene scene then painting with acrylics. Yoga – Virtual Wednesday, June 8 at 5 p.m. Open to Children of All Ages (Children/Tweens/Teens). Join Yogi Micheline as she virtually guides you through a series of yoga poses.
