Citizen Preparedness Workshop – All Purpose Room – All Purpose Room
Tuesday, August 20, 6 – 8 p.m. It is more important than ever that New Yorkers are prepared for disasters. The NY Citizen Preparedness Training Program teaches residents to have the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. Space is limited. Registration is required (through the office of NYS Senator Jack Martins). A certificate will be provided. For ages 10 to adult. Scout troops are encourage to attend.

Armchair Historians Book Club -1st Fl. Modular Room
Wednesday, August 21 at 6:30 p.m. The book being discussed is: Space Race: The Epic Battle Between America and the Soviet Union for Dominion of Space by Deborah Cadbury. A history of the race to the moon between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, and the two men who ran each country’s space program: a former Nazi scientist and a Russian who spent years in the gulag.

Thursday, August 22, 4 – 7 p.m. “Gina on the Go“. New York State Assemblywoman Gina Sillitti will be hosting open office hours at the Hillside Public Library. Residents are encouraged to stop by to meet & speak with the Assemblywoman about any civic concerns that they may have.
