On April 23, 2022, state Sen. Anna Kaplan joined the Merillon Sports Association and the New Hyde Park North Little League for their Opening Day Parade and ceremony. The parade included local youth athletes and the Nassau County Firefighters Pipes and Drums, and the ceremony officially kicked off the 2022 little league season.
