New Hyde Park-Garden City Park students work on app design

Garden City Park School and New Hyde Park Road School students in fifth and sixth grade recently worked with district coding teacher Lara Holzkamp, in class and remotely, on a project called App Design.

Students were given the opportunity to create their own app or an extension to an app that they already use. They designed how they would like their app to look through drawings and then wrote a description of what the app would be used for and why people would enjoy it.

Later this year, the students plan to use coding platforms to learn the basics of how apps are created.
