May Events at the Floral Park Library

The Friends of the Floral Park Library’s Book Nook, opened last month, is off to a great start. Check the Library’s Facebook page for information on when the Nook is open – and buy a book or two to support the Friends.
Teens can take advantage of several weeks of Teen Exam Cram, study space set aside especially for them. When they’re not studying, Teens can enjoy Teen Cuisine with Chefs of d’Future, and participate in the Teen Executive Board Meeting / Flashback Friday, where pizza is on the menu.
Perennial favorites Family Pre-school Hour and Babystart with a Time for Kids are “in the house,” along with Funkytown Playground and Play Hooray. There’s also a special Mother’s Day Storytime and Crafts program, a Chefs of d’Future Mommy & Me, May with Young Engineers, and a 3-D Spring Pond Craft with our own Ms. Kelly, and the Suncatcher craft features bees. Our partnership with Hey Kids Comics allows young patrons to sign up for a monthly ‘zine subscription.
Only four weeks left of Monday evening’s popular Game Nite for Grownups. There’s a special program – Good Vibrations – Tuning Fork Therapy – this month; it focuses on sound therapy to restore inner balance and health.
Adult programs include: Paint Like the Greats – Yayoi Kusama and Georgia O’Keefe – with artist Danielle Barbaro; The A, B, C’s of Medicare (ZOOM), and the Empire Safety Council Defensive Driving class.
For the whole family, Chefs of d’Future is cooking up quesadillas on Cinco de Mayo.
Monday Movie Matinees resume with “West Side Story” on the Library’s new 86” Smartboard screen. The Evening Edition Book Club meets at 7:00 pm on May 12th to discuss “The Dearly Beloved” by Cara Wall.” New members are always welcome. The Library Board meets in person on Wednesday, May 11th at 7:30pm.
The Made with Love Knitting and Crocheting group continues to meet weekly Mondays at 6:30 pm and Wednesdays at 11:30 am. Saturday morning English Language Learner classes are ongoing. Project Hope and Parker Jewish Institute for Health and Rehabilitation’s Willing Hearts Helpful Hands will be at the Library on a monthly basis.
