You know it’s Summer at the Floral Park Library when the lawn is filled with fun activities, especially the exciting BBQ event that kicks off this year’s “Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Reading Program.
This month, teens have three Friday afternoons of Teen Exam Cram, study space set aside especially for them. There’s also Teen/Tween P[art]y Art event, Nintendo Switch Time and a DIY Beach Tote.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar turns 53, and there’s a craft and storytime to celebrate the birthday, and also a Special Father’s Day craft and storytime on tap for kids. The young ones can also Make a Father’s Day Mug with Lisa Colon, take part in Play Hooray for Kids, or Baby Start and Evening Family Pre-School Hour with A Time for Kids. There’s studio space for children in grades 3 thru 5 to meet and make comics, too.
For families with children up to grade 5, Chefs of d’Future is cooking up something special. They always do!
The Monday Movie Matinee “Belfast” airs on the 86” Smartboard big screen. The Evening Edition Book Club meets at 7:00 pm on June 7th to discuss Abi Daré’s “The Girl with the Louding Voice.” They welcome new members. The Library Board meets in person on Wednesday, June 8th at 7:30pm.
The weekly Chair Yoga program continues through the Summer months. Local author Bob Todaro presents a lecture/discussion on his two “Souls” series books. Adults can enjoy a Reiki Healing Session, or take a Defensive Driving course.
Made with Love Knitting and Crocheting volunteer group meetings are weekly Mondays at 6:30 pm and Wednesdays at 11:30 am. Saturday morning English Language Learner classes are ongoing. Project Hope visits the Library on a monthly basis to offer support and guidance to those struggling with COVID (and non-COVID) related issues.
