July programs and events at the Floral Park Library

The adventure is already underway at the Floral Park Library in July.

The children’s summer reading launched with Petra Puppets, Teen Laser ZTag, and Steppin’ Out Ponies Animal Fun Petting Zoo, and the reading is already underway.

Grown-ups can join in, too. When they complete a book, adults fill out an entry form, which makes them eligible for one of six weekly prizes from local restaurants and retail shops. Reading truly is FUNdamental!

With school in recess for the summer, teens have a lot to choose from: Chef Julie makes Columbian Arepas, a craft takeover in Teen Space, an Escape Box Mystery, a Long Island Retro Gaming event, a P[art]y Art craft program, Visible Mending with Artist/Maker Danielle Barbaro, and a mid-July pop-up event TBD.

The July teen meetup of the Baby-sitter’s Club Book Club features “Dawn and the Impossible Three.”

Craftpals offers “Ocean in an Egg Carton” for two age groups: kindergarten through 2nd grade and 6th grade and up. There are also two sessions of a family program with Chef Julie for children up to Grade 5.

For the “littles,” almost the end of school comes with class visits to the Library. Additionally, the second three-week Little Gardeners program with Miss Rita happens in July, along with a four-week crochet club for kids in grades three through five.

First through third graders can register for a LEGO Ice Cream Party, and third through fifth grades have a ROBLOX LEGO Tower Challenge, both offered by Creatology Kidz. For more Summer fun, Magic with Ari Bisk (grades 2 – 5);  Q-tip Art (grades 3 – 5); The Pom Queen (grades 3 – 5); Storycraft (a story AND a craft for grades 1 – 3).

The always popular, always entertaining Tiny Tots Storytime; Play Hooray, and A Time For Kids Baby Start and Family Pre-school Hour are on the July calendar, too.

The Floral Park Library Urban Explorers are heading to the Bronx this month. The sold-out bus trip itinerary includes stops at Woodlawn Cemetery, the Hall of Fame for Great Americans, and City Island. Free time includes lunch at one of the Arthur Avenue restaurants.

The Library lawn is the place to be this July for fitness and fun!

The four-week free pilates program begins Tuesday, July 2, and runs through Tuesday, July 23, weather permitting (in the event of rain, the session is canceled; there are no makeup sessions). The sessions are filling fast!

On July 18 at 7:00 pm, Bonjourney takes the Library stage for our free, live summer concert. Don’t stop believin’ the atmosphere will be alive with the sounds of Bon Jovi and Journey. The rain date is Tuesday, July 23rd.

Wednesday’s weekly Hybrid Chair Yoga continues through July 24, after which it will be fully remote via ZOOM until mid-September.
