It’s a “three-peat!” The Floral Park Library was voted Blank Slate Media’s “Best Library in Nassau County” for the third year in a row! A big THANK YOU to all our staff, programs and event presenters, our community – and especially our amazing patrons – for their continued support.
There’s plenty for teens, tweens, and kids to choose from this August. Teens can opt for a DIY to tie dye tote project, an innovative gaming event, Escape the Box: Museum Mysteries, Steam Punk Robot Back Pack Clip craft, or a Self-care Spa event for Teens and their Moms. In addition, there’s a teen/tween P[art]y Art event, and a teen cuisine program with Chefs of d’Future.
For the younger set, there’s the three-week August edition of “Arts and Confidence” program in partnership with The Hance Family Foundation’s Self-Esteem Rising, a four-session Learn to Play the Piano, three-session Group Painting program for grades 3 – 5, a two-day Civics for Kids with Laura Trentacoste, and a Chefs of d’Future cooking event.
Of course, favorites Baby Start and Family Pre-School Hour with A Time for Kids are on the calendar, along with Play Hooray. Green Meadows Farm’s Jason Reilly brings his live animals to the Library lawn for families and children to enjoy, too.
Speaking of three-peats, August’s Library lawn concert features “Bobby Sings Bobby” for the third year in a row. Our 100th anniversary concert in July – the Cold Spring Harbor Tribute Band headed by Pat Farrell – delighted the crowd of 350+ with the chronological songbook of Billy Joel.
Weekly Chair Yoga for Adults continues in August, and the Pilates on the Lawn series continues Tuesday evenings through August 22nd, weather permitting. The Monday Movie Matinee is “A Man Called Otto.”
The Evening Edition Book Club hold its regularly scheduled meetings; there is no FPPL Friends of the Library Book Club meeting in August. The Made with Love Knitting and Crocheting group meets Mondays at 6:30 pm and Wednesdays at 11:00 am.
The Library is closed every Saturday and Sunday in August. There is no Library Board meeting in August.
One-to-one tech help for tablets, smartphones, laptops and Kindles is available for our Floral Park patrons by appointment only.
