“Showers” of congratulations to Library Director Pat Eren on her recognition by Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages as a “Woman of Distinction” at the 11th Annual Woman of Distinction Ceremony held on March 11 at Sewanhaka High School.

The ceremony is dedicated to recognizing women in the 22nd Assembly District community who continue to uplift and empower others.

In other news, we’ve added Saturday, April 20 to the bi-monthly Empire Safety Council Defensive Driving program. Registration is open.

The sold out Library Lawn sale event happens on Saturday, April 27. Everyone’s invited to the corner of Caroline and Tulip to find their next treasure!

On April 15, 112 years to the day it the ship hit that iceberg, the library is offering a “Titanic Trifecta” – a showing of the 1953 and 1997 versions of the movie, followed by a live program with Eco-Explorers, “the RMS Titanic: Her Final Days.

Congressman Anthony D’Esposito brings his mobile office to the Library on Wednesday April 10, and the St. Francis Hospital Outreach Bus is curbside on April 9th (no appointment necessary).

The last two AARP tax help days happen in early April, and those old tax documents can be safely disposed of when A Shred Away visits on April 26.

Micheline is back from her Malta getaway, and Wednesday’s weekly hybrid Chair Yoga Chair Yoga continues to attract new practitioners, along with the perennially faithful.

The Floral Park Friends of the Library Book Club, celebrating their 20th Anniversary, meets on April 8, and the Evening Edition Book Club features “Beautiful Ruins” by Jess Walter.

Adults can also opt for any or all of: Broadway on a Budget; Mah Jongg (1st of three sessions), ChatGPT for Adults, a Family Game Show Challenge, or the soothing Sound Bath Meditation.

Teen programs this month include: Teen Craft Takeover; Vacation Teen Minecraft Space Scavenger Hunt; and a community service opportunity for those in grades 6 – 12. Our Children’s Library trainee Katie host the Babysitters Club Book Club for grades 4 thru 6, featuring “Mary Anne Saves the Day.”

Play Hooray, and A Time for Kids Baby Start and Family Pre-School Hour are on this month’s calendar, along with the Pom Pom Queen (3rd – 5th grade), and P[art]y Art drop off sessions for pre-K thru 2nd grade and 3rd thru 5th grades. Floral Park’s Smile Starters Pediatric Dentists visit to offer a Storytime, two Chefs of d’Future for Kids (always a crowd pleaser) are on the menu, along with a StoryCraft for Kids in 1st thru 3rd grades.

The fabulous – and growing –  Made with Love Knitting and Crocheting group meets Mondays at 6:30 pm and Wednesdays at 11:00 am. No registration necessary. No formal instruction provided.

The Library Board meets Wednesday, April 10 at 7:30 pm. The public is welcome.

One-to-one tech help for tablets, smartphones, laptops and Kindles is available for our Floral Park patrons by appointment only (floralparktechhelp@gmail.com).
