Sewanhaka Central High School District Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services Regina Agrusa has been promoted to the role of deputy superintendent, effective immediately.
Agrusa has been with the district since 1997, serving as a school counselor at Elmont Memorial High School. In 1999, she was named pupil personnel chairperson at the school, supervising student support services. She also served as the varsity lacrosse coach, earning Coach of the Year honors during the 2003 conference championship season.
Agrusa was promoted to district director of pupil personnel services in 2004, supervising all district PPS staff. She began her most recent role as assistant superintendent in 2013 and was responsible for student support services and special education instruction and programs.
Her success in her various roles is evident in the awards she’s earned throughout the years, including the Sewanhaka Central High School District PTA Lifetime Membership Award; the Phi Delta Kappa Friends of Education Award, sponsored by Molloy College; the Academy for Character Education Leadership Award from Sage College in Albany; the Nassau Counselor’s Association Administrator of the Year Award in 2014; and the SCOPE Administrator Service Award in March 2018.
As deputy superintendent, Agrusa will assist with special projects, the re-organization of the central office administrative team and be acting superintendent in the absence of Superintendent Dr. James Grossane from the district.
“Her expertise and leadership will greatly assist the district in our educational mission for all our students,” he said. “I have every confidence in her continued success in our district.”
