For the past 32 years, the Nassau County Police Department’s Shomrim Society has worked to further their purpose of helping the community by running a Passover Food Drive.
This year was no different, with generous donations of food from many kosher food purveyors and private donors, partnering with the Hatzilu Rescue Organization to deliver food to over 74 families.
Volunteers organized on the morning of April 10 to sort items, pack food into boxes and load their own cars to make drop-offs at homes across Nassau County.
These drop-offs are made to people who are truly in need for various reasons and who otherwise may not be able to celebrate the Passover holiday. The organization believes that no one should have to experience that, and in Nassau County, it will continue to do everything that we can to help others less fortunate, especially during difficult times.
Anyone interested in providing assistance for future events can email Nassau County Shomrim President Gary Koffsky at NassauShomrim@gmail.com.
