On Thursday, May 4, 300 people are expected to gather at Heritage Club at Bethpage for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Annual Runway for MS Fashion Show Gala.
This year’s gathering will honor Dr. Richard Blanck, of New Hyde Park, as the Hope honoree.
The Hope Honoree is a medical professional who has shown exemplary commitment and passion to the mission of the National MS Society in the Long Island Community.
Blanck, neurologist of Neurological Associates of Long Island, P.C, practices general neurology with a subspecialty in multiple sclerosis.
He is an attending physician at North Shore University Hospital; and St. Francis Hospital and is a Clinical Associate Professor at Hofstra University North Shore – LIJ Medical School.
“The National MS Society is thrilled to recognize Blanck, for his dedication to the MS movement,” said Dana A. Miele, National MS Society, Greater New York City- Long Island Chapter, president. “We are grateful for his service in the community as a healthcare professional specializing in multiple sclerosis, and we’ve been fortunate to have him as a Society Partner in MS Care for years connecting his patients to the information, resources and support to assist them in living their best lives.”
Runway for MS Fashion Show Gala is one of the Society’s premier fundraising leadership events that features a cocktail reception, dinner, raffle, live auction, and models who all live with MS or have a close personal connection to someone living with the disease.
In 2022 supporters, with strong ties to the Long Island community and a commitment to funding critical MS research that will lead to a cure, raised a record-breaking $280K.
“This award is unexpected but very appreciated,” said Blanck. “I have been involved in the MS community for 45 years now and have witnessed advancements in treatments to slow disease progression. I’m hopeful that with fundraising events like this, we will continue to fund the research that will lead to a cure.”
Blanck and his wife Lauren, of 50 years in June, are the parents of two adult children, Jennifer (husband Evan) and Steven (wife Sarah) and the grandparents to Molly, Colin, Rory and Jonah.
