Mpact Outreach to showcase volunteer opportunities

Mpact Outreach, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, will be hosting a community service awards night highlighting local volunteers in the community.

The event will take place on Sept. 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Westbury Public Library Meeting Room. The Ollie Mae Peterson Education and Community Service Memorial Scholarship of 2024 will be given to community service volunteers. The event, which is open to everyone, will also showcase the various volunteer opportunities in the community.

“We’re going to have a showcase for the Westbury teenagers at the library and we are promoting community service,” Delphine Way, co-founder of Mpact Outreach said. “We will have representatives from the Westbury junior firefighters, the ROTC program for the juniors and seniors and the volunteer program they hold at the library. So those are the three that will be showcasing their programs.”

The ROTC and Westbury volunteer program participated in volunteer services from April through August, in hopes of being the winner of the $400 scholarship award that Mpact offered them. The winner of the award will be announced later that night.
