She is one of only two recipients in the state to receive a $200 grant to bring her vision to life for Mineola students. According to the NYSPTA website, grants are “awarded to worthy projects that significantly influence student learning.” Mekeel used the funds to expand the sensory pathway and resources at Meadow Drive School. The district congratulates Mekeel on this achievement.
