Kindergartners in Elizabeth Powers’ class at Manor Oaks School have been learning about the chilliest season.

To explore through sensory play and experiment with different materials, students created their own snow with baking soda, hair conditioner and glitter. They discussed adjectives while playing with the artificial snow. The class also read “The Three Snow Bears” and compared and contrasted it with the classic “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” tale.

A non-fiction reading and writing unit on polar animals is planned as students continue to learn about the winter season.
