Long Island Cares food drive collection bins at G.N. Library locations

LI Cares Food Drive Donations are being accepted at the Main Great Neck Library, Parkville and Station Branches.

The Main Library, Parkville and Station Branches of the Great Neck Library are currently accepting donations for LI Cares Inc.,The Harry Chapin Food Bank.

Founded by Harry Chapin, LI Cares brings together all available resources for the benefit of those individuals and families facing food insecurity and hunger on Long Island.

The collection boxes are accessible at the front entrances of each library location during regular Library hours: Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and 2:00 to 5:30 p.m.

Please donate products that are in boxes, cans, or plastic bottles, and do not require refrigeration. Please, no glass jars.

To promote healthy eating, LI Cares asks for items that are low in sugar/sodium and free of high fructose corn syrup.

Top 10 Most Needed Items: Low-Fat, Boxed, & Non-Refrigerated Milk; White Rice; Canned Vegetables; Cooking Oil; Cereals; Pasta; Tomato Sauce; Canned Meat, Poultry, & Fish; Peanut Butter; Jelly, Jam, & Spreadable Fruit.
