Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Council Members Anna Kaplan and Council Member Dina De Giorgio and Town Clerk Wayne Wink attended the “March for Our Lives” demonstration held at the Jonathan L. Ielpi Firefighters Park in Great Neck on March 24, as well as a rally in Port Washington.
Students and families from the local community attended the event to show their support for the “March for Our Lives” movement and urge for stricter gun regulations. The event was part of a larger “March for Our Lives” student demonstration held in Washington, D.C.
Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso also attended several local events to support the nationwide “March For Our Lives” campaign.
He joined hundreds of residents filling the Jonathan L. Ielpi Firefighters Park in Great Neck to listen to speeches given by local student activists who spoke of the need for school safety and their opposition to gun violence. Afterwards, he joined a march along Port Washington Boulevard which terminated at the United Methodist Church on Middle Neck Road. A solemn candlelight vigil was held at the church.
“These students are our future. We must protect them and support their cause to stop gun violence,” D’Urso said.
