Learning and sharing at The Wheatley School farmer’s market

It was a busy and productive time this summer at The Wheatley School, in the East Williston School District, as students planted, cultivated and harvested their crops to share with families and community residents.

The Wheatley School’s Life Skills classes kept the annual tradition alive and worked hard learning about and tending to the crops to ensure they were harvested at the right time and prepared to sell in the farmer’s market. To add to the items available for sale, the students made homemade jams and muffins.

This year’s market offered a wide variety of items including flowers, fresh produce from the Wheatley Life Skills garden and the School Within a School garden, handmade curtains, homemade jams and butters, lemonade, muffins, painted seashells with messages of inspiration and more. Thanks to the amazing turnout, the farmer’s market was a huge success and a great learning experience for the students.
