Roslyn sports fans gathered on a beautiful autumn day on Saturday, Sept. 24 to watch the Roslyn Bulldogs Homecoming Game and halftime show. The team was defeated 35-13.

Saturday kicked off with the annual pancake breakfast at 11 a.m. in the RHS cafeteria—served up by Roslyn administrators and staff. At 12:15 p.m., parade participants from across the district stepped off from the front entrance of Roslyn High School, marched through Roslyn Village and made their way to the high school football field. Members of the Roslyn Board of Education, Superintendent Allison Brown, building administrators and the Roslyn bulldog mascot accompanied them.

“Each year, our school community gathers together for a wonderful display of school spirit,” said Superintendent Allison Brown. “We were lucky to have such a beautiful day to enjoy the parade and the game. Every year my heart is warmed by how the Roslyn community comes together for this special day.”

Roslyn’s Homecoming Day was the culmination of Spirit Week—a weeklong spirit-building initiative designed to build excitement for the big game. Daily clothing themes — like pajama, tie-dye and superhero clothing — were encouraged throughout the district. A robust schedule of games in a variety of sports led up to the football event on Saturday.

On Thursday, Sept. 22, the Organization of Class Council, members of the football and cheerleading teams and the Roslyn Marching Band toured each elementary school to entertain the children with spirited pep rallies. The young students were especially excited to see the Roslyn Bulldog mascot in their hallways!

Roslyn High School hosted a pep rally on the football field on Friday, Sept. 23. Students, faculty and staff filled the bleachers to watch performances by the Roslyn Marching Band and the Roslyn High School Cheerleaders.

“Our students, athletes, teachers, coaches, administration, board of education members, parents and community all came together to celebrate Homecoming this past Saturday,” said Director of Athletics Michael Brostowski. “A great deal of preparation is required to make this day happen and I’m extraordinarily proud to be a part of it.”
