The board games were set and the sports equipment was ready on Jan. 18 at Hillside Grade School as students and teachers gathered together to “Get in the Game and Read.”
It was the eight annual read-aloud event.
Students in kindergarten through sixth grade were invited back to school at 6:45 p.m. for a “sportstastic” evening of reading and playing.
The event began with Beth Torreano, Hillside’s principal, sharing a sports-themed book, complete with movements and a surprise visit from Sparky the Husky, the Hillside Grade School mascot.
Students then went off with teachers to share another book based on the theme of games.
The evening concluded with every student getting involved in a game and leaving with a treat bag filled with some games to continue the play at home.
