Hillside Grade School students engage in biomedical presentation

As part of their unit on biomedical studies in the Project Lead the Way lessons, Hillside Grade School sixth-graders were visited by representatives from Perrotta Consulting on April 4. Perrotta Consulting is the company that the district uses for its COVID-19 contact tracing.

Throughout the presentation, students learned about community efforts taken to prevent disease and promote health, as well as emergency management. They discussed commonly-used phrases like “close contact,” “proximate contact,” “endemic,” “pandemic” and “quarantine.” The Perrotta representatives also explained the three primary methods of disease transmission and how their company has assisted the district in mitigating the risk of COVID-19. At the conclusion, students asked questions.
