Congratulations to Joseph Manfredi and Joseph Mattei on earning 2022 All-State honors in Albany during the weekend of Feb. 28. Manfredi is now the 110 lb. New York State Champion, defeating Mikey Manta of Hauppauge 5-1 in the finals.

After losing in the second round, Mattei picked up three victories in the consolations to earn a spot on the podium, placing eighth at 160 lbs.

Until now, the last Herricks New York State Champion, Maciej Jochym ‘O7, was 15 years ago. This is the first time since 1967, when Jerry Kahrilas placed third and Richard Terzian placed fifth, that Herricks has had two state place winners in the same year.

Out of 133 teams represented in the state tournament, Herricks finished 10th in team score. Herricks is very proud of these athletes and their accomplishments this year!
