Searingtown Elementary students in third, fourth and fifth grades were invited to decorate a pumpkin at home to look like a favorite book character and bring it back to school to plant in the Storybook Pumpkin Patch for display in the school’s library. Along with their decorated pumpkins, students submitted a book overview and description of their character to accompany their creation.

Some of the pumpkin characters represented were from books such as “Dogman,” “Wonder,” “Harry Potter,” “Charlotte’s Web,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “The Babysitters Club” and “Captain Underpants.”
