The Great Neck Library is hosting a lecture, “Weight Management Medicine: All About Optimizing Health and Preventing/Treating Chronic Disease” by Dr. William Berger. The lecture is on Monday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m. at the Main Library, 159 Bayview Ave. in Great Neck.
Berger will be giving a talk about the newsworthy subject of weight management. Learn about the definition of obesity and how it is affecting our society by being the cause of so many chronic diseases.
He will discuss how the pillars of obesity and lifestyle medicine (nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress reduction, avoidance of risky substances, and anti-obesity medications) can be utilized in an integrated fashion to help patients achieve a healthy weight.
Berger is the founder and medical director of Northeast Medical Practice. He earned his bachelor of science degree magna cum laude in biology with university honors.
He then completed his MD degree with high distinction in basic, translational, and clinical science research at the Frank Netter School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University.
Berger completed his medical training in internal medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Prior to his medical training, Berger served the State of CT as an environmental and food safety chemist. During this time, he also taught biology courses for nursing and PA students at Quinnipiac University.
He has authored over 20 scientific peer- reviewed publications, including a Sigma Xi Society Paper of the Year. He believes in forging personal relationships with patients to accompany them on a long-term, sustainable path towards optimal health and wellness.
