The Gold Coast Arts Center is accepting registration for its upcoming semester beginning on Sept. 9.

With classes that include art, dance, cartooning, ceramics, music, theatre, chess, fencing and more, the community-based organization provides innovative classes and programs that help spark the imagination and bring out the inner artist of all ages, abilities and interests.

“The community is very important to us, and our offerings are responsive to their creative needs,” Director Ellen Schiff said. “The newly added pop-up workshops cater to small groups interested in a variety of art classes, ceramics, fencing and more. One such popular workshop is Pour Art, where students learn how to create original paint designs on canvas, vases, and coasters.”

New classes being introduced this fall include Mask Making (an intensive class for ages 7+ using film grade materials to create a custom one-of-a-kind SFX mask); Acting Technique and Playwriting (students ages 9 and up will learn fundamental and essential acting techniques to enhance their performance skills); Company Ballet (a Ballet class reserved for competition soloists ages 10+); Advanced Digital Cartooning (an advanced animation class for ages 7+); and so much more.

Also in the fall lineup is the Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre, for ages 6+. This class teaches elementary acting, singing, and dancing and how to be a triple threat as they focus on memorization, motor skills, stage presence, choreography and scene work.

At the end of the semester, students showcase their talents in a kid’s edition of The Lion King.

“In the Fall 2024 semester, in addition to adding new classes to our acclaimed schedule of
student favorites, we are welcoming new teachers to our talented staff including Shulie Cooper, ceramics; Amir Diop, cartooning; and Caitlin Barton, dance,” Associated School Director Kimberly Pogorelis said. “We know that students will appreciate their energy, creativity and innovative style.”

Classes, private lessons and pop-up workshops are held after school and on weekends.

The Gold Coast Arts Center also offers a Vacation Arts program, which is perfect for holiday breaks when schools are closed for extended periods.
