North Hempstead Council Member Mariann Dalimonte recently met with Girl Scout Troop 443 at the Port Washington Public Library on Nov. 5.

Dalimonte led a lively discussion with Troop 443, speaking about the importance of government in the United States and some of the significant issues tackled by local government leaders.

Dalimonte spoke specifically about initiatives she spearheaded – including Port Outdoors and reintroducing oysters into Manhasset Bay – to demonstrate to the scouts that the local government works hard to improve the quality of life in Port Washington and throughout North Hempstead.

The discussion helped the scouts earn their “inside government” badge.
