Adults mingled and kids ate delicious dessert at the Kiddie Academy’s second-annual Ice Cream Social.
The Kiddie Academy of Floral Park hosted the event Aug. 16. All of the current students and upcoming students of the academy were invited to the event. The goal of this event was for families to meet, connect and continue to build a vibrant community.
“We served over 530 ice cream cones,” Emily Zaghi, owner of Kiddie Academy of Floral Park, said. “So there were a lot of people there and it was a great way for families to meet each other and continue that growth and development through the community.”
The academy is an educational child-care program with students in the pre-kindergarten age. They host a curriculum called Life Essentials, which focuses on character, confidence, curiosity, connection, critical thinking and creative expression.
Zaghi said along with future events, the academy will continue to work with the community, especially with the Floral Park-Bellerose School District’s universal pre-K program. It also hosts a summer reading program with the Floral Park Public Library.
“We’re trying to work together to build this community,” Zaghi said.
Zaghi said she wants her academy to be “super involved” in the community.
“We just want to do as much as we can within the community, whether it’s joining a 5K, or working with the Hance Family Foundation, or we thought about doing an art exhibit in the local library,” Zaghi said.
Zaghi said she wants to continue to help students get involved in the community at a young age because it’s an important part of growing up.
