On Tuesday, April 18th Floral Park Mayor Kevin Fitzgerald and the Board of Trustees swore-in the new Chiefs of the Floral Park Fire Department while a number of volunteer firefighters were still on the scene for over 24 hours responding to a fire at 266 Jericho Turnpike on Monday, April 17th. Outgoing Chief of Department Jep Dodson from the Alert Engine Company, just stepping away from the fire scene to present his farewell and annual report on the Fire Department, was recognized by his colleagues and the residents of the Village with a standing ovation in support of his leadership and the Fire Department’s service to the Village.

Mayor Fitzgerald performed the swearing-in ceremony for the incoming Fire Chiefs for 2023-2024:

4th Assistant Chief William Lauria from the Alert Engine Company,
3rd Assistant Chief Eric O’Connor from the Hook & Ladder Company,
2nd Assistant Chief Gil Luger from the Active Engine Company,
1st Assistant Chief Salvatore Arrigo from the Rescue Company, and
Chief of Department from the Reliance Engine Company, Brian Hamerman.
