The excitement of Floral Park-Bellerose School K-3 students was evident as they gathered on the field for the annual Junior Olympic Day, held on May 25.

Students in each classroom wore matching T-shirts as they participated in a variety of relay races led by physical education teachers Colleen Martin and Frank Thomas. All students tested their running speed during a dash competition, used teamwork to pass along a hula hoop without unlinking arms in the Hula Hoop Challenge and passed balloons over their head and under their legs in the Over-Under Challenge.

Additionally, there were grade-specific activities. Kindergartners participated in a Rock and Roll Race, while first graders took part in a Find the Marble Challenge. Second graders had a Pizza Delivery Dash and third graders competed in the Egg and Spoon Run.

Families were invited to watch the competitions. Students were also treated to shaved ices from a Kona Ice Truck, courtesy of the PTA.
