First-half of the 2023-2024 school property tax, due Nov. 13

Charles Berman, the North Hempstead Receiver of Taxes, is urging residents to settle their first-half 2023-2024 school tax bill by Monday, Nov. 13, to avoid penalties. Payments must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service no later than the mentioned date.

Residents can conveniently make online payments using the information provided on the reverse side of their bills. Online check payments (ACH) incur a $1.75 processing fee, while debit card transactions involve a $3.95 fee.

Credit card payments, as per the New York General Municipal Law, require taxpayers to cover a 2.30% service fee, with accepted cards including American Express, Mastercard, Discover, and Visa. The town does not receive any portion of the service fee, as it is retained by the payment processing vendors.

For those preferring in-person transactions, the Tax Office at 200 Plandome Road in Manhasset will be open from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13. Additionally, specific locations will accept check or money order payments at designated times. Residents are advised to bring their complete bill when making payments in person.
